carbmee Deploys AI-Native Data Platform to Help Manufacturers Meet EU Digital Battery Passport
Summary
carbmee is applying its AI-powered data foundation to help battery manufacturers assemble the roughly 80 verified data fields required per battery under the EU Digital Battery Passport, ahead of the February 18, 2027 deadline. The platform connects fragmented data across ERP, PLM, MES, and supplier systems to maintain continuously updated, auditable lifecycle records rather than one-time snapshots.
carbmee Applies AI-Native Data Foundation to the EU Digital Battery Passport Challenge
As manufacturers face roughly 80 required data fields per battery across fragmented systems, carbmee positions AI-powered data modelling as the path to passport readiness at scale ahead of the 18 February 2027 deadline.
Carbmee, the environmental intelligence company, is applying its AI-native data foundation to one of the hardest problems in the EU Digital Battery Passport: assembling verified, product-level data at scale from information scattered across ERP, PLM, MES, supplier portals, spreadsheets, LCA tools, and battery management systems.
Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, from 18 February 2027, EV, light transport, and industrial batteries above 2 kWh require a Digital Battery Passport covering six data categories: general battery and manufacturer information, material composition and sourcing, performance and durability, sustainability and environmental impact, safety, and end-of-life and recycling. Each passport rests on roughly 80 data fields that must be verified, access-tiered, and kept current as a battery moves through use, repair, repurposing, and recycling.
Carbmee’s approach begins with the transactional data a company already holds, then uses AI to connect and model it into a single foundation rather than requiring complete supplier data before any passport can be built. Where primary data is missing, the platform helps teams identify gaps, engage the right suppliers, and validate inputs, so companies can avoid defaulting to high proxy values and the higher assumed emissions that follow.
Because battery passport data is dynamic, updating as service events, state of health, and end-of-life status change, Carbmee’s model is built to maintain lifecycle records over time rather than produce a one-time snapshot. The company argues this is the difference between a claim a manufacturer can defend once and one it can defend continuously.
Carbmee is clear that no software makes a claim lawful and that legal sign-off remains with a company’s counsel. What an AI-native data foundation provides is the verified, auditable, continuously updated data that every passport depends on.
