Avatr 07L Launch Targets EV SUV Sweet Spot

The EV company Avatr has launched a new small SUV called the 07L that is aiming right for one of the most popular segments in the market. The vehicle comes at a price of 219,900 yuan ($32,590) for a limited time. Beyond launch, here are the prices of the different versions:

• 229,900 yuan ($34,070)
• 249,900 yuan ($37,035)
• 279,900 yuan ($41,480)

In case you forgot — or never saw — Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei came together to create Avatr. It’s not as big as EV startups like Leapmotor, XPENG, and NIO, but it’s rolling — and the company creates really high-tech, cool looking cars.

The Avatr 07L Max+ and Elite, the base version and middle version, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds while the Ultra trim can do so in 3.7 seconds. They have 305 kW of power and 712 kW of power, respectively.

All versions of the model have a 89.33 kWh CATL Shenxing Battery. They can all charge extremely fast at 5C. The two bottom trims have 725 kilometers (450 miles) of range on a full charge, while the Ultra trim has 650 kilometers (404 miles) of range (CLTC rating system of course). Combined with their 800-volt silicon carbide platform, the vehicles can charge from 30% to 80% in under 10 minutes or from 0 to 80% state of charge in 20 minutes.

“All versions come with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system and the new-generation HarmonySpace cockpit,” CnEVPost shares. “Configurations are tiered, however. The Max+ and Ultra versions carry the higher-end ADS Max with a roof-mounted 896-channel LiDAR sensor, while the Elite version gets the ADS Pro enhanced version with an in-cabin LiDAR. Avatr said the 896-channel LiDAR is the highest-spec LiDAR in mass production, able to identify objects 14 centimeters tall from 120 meters away. The vehicle is among the first to support RCA roaming cruise assist, allowing drivers to activate NCA driver assistance without setting a navigation route in advance.”

Overall, everything about this new model looks competitive and compelling. From the design to the specs to the features to the pricing, it has all the capability to do well and find many happy buyers.
