BYD Hits Record Exports in July with 124% Year-Over-Year Growth

BYD had a strong sales month overall, with 20.5% growth in passenger vehicle sales overall and 31% growth in BEV sales, achieving the company’s second best sales month ever for BEVs. However, how many of those sales are in China versus outside of China? This coverage centres on BYD record exports.

As has been clear, the Chinese auto market has been down a lot this year, and that includes the EV market in the country. The good news is that BYD has quickly exported more and more sales abroad. That’s what’s driving the company’s vehicle sales growth. So, what does that mean in terms of July sales?

BYD had 180,538 export sales in July. Without more context, most of us are thinking, “What does that mean? Is that good or bad?” But here’s the context:

That looks quite promising, right? BYD’s 180,538 vehicle sales abroad were about 5,000 sales more than the company’s previous export record — 175,349 in June.

Technically, that was 123.6% higher than in July 2025 (80,737 deliveries). And it was 3% larger than in June 2026.

Not too shabby. We’ll have to wait to see what happens in August, September, etc., but I do think we’ll continue to see BYD’s exports grow as the year goes on and the company’s sales avenues continue to expand abroad.
