BYD to launch Da Han flagship sedan on October 13 with up to 1,008 km EV range

• BYD began pre-sales of the Da Han EV in China in late August, with prices ranging from 249,900 yuan ($37,030) to 299,900 yuan.
• The flagship sedan sits above the existing Han and joins the Da Tang SUV in supporting the BYD Dynasty lineup's push into the premium market.

BYD (HKEX: 1211) will launch its flagship Da Han sedan on October 13, following the start of pre-sales for its battery-electric version, which offers a CLTC range of up to 1,008 kilometers.

Lu Tian, general manager of sales for BYD's Dynasty lineup, announced the launch date on Weibo on Friday, inviting consumers to visit dealerships during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays.

The Da Han EV began pre-sales at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 21, offering 2 rear-wheel-drive variants and 1 all-wheel-drive variant at prices ranging from 249,900 yuan ($37,030) to 299,900 yuan.

The 2 rear-wheel-drive variants each offer a CLTC range of 1,008 kilometers and are priced at 249,900 yuan and 269,900 yuan in pre-sales. The all-wheel-drive variant offers 880 kilometers of range and is priced at 299,900 yuan.

Positioned above the existing Han, the Da Han is the flagship large sedan in BYD's Dynasty lineup and will join the previously launched Da Tang SUV in targeting the premium market.

The sedan measures 5,256 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,510 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm and seating for 5.

The rear-wheel-drive Da Han EV features a motor with a peak output of 370 kW (496 hp). The all-wheel-drive variant adds a 200 kW front motor, bringing combined peak output to 570 kW.

BYD said at the start of pre-sales that all Da Han EV variants come standard with DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, flash charging technology, rear-wheel steering and 2 front zero-gravity seats.

The sedan also comes standard with the God's Eye B LiDAR-based driver-assistance system, along with smart dimming privacy glass and a 31-speaker Devialet audio system.

In addition to the battery-electric model, the Da Han is expected to offer a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version, though pre-sales for that version have yet to begin.

Earlier regulatory filings showed that the plug-in hybrid version will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a 54.489-kWh battery pack, offering a WLTC electric range of 370 kilometers.

The Da Han's launch will further expand the flagship offerings in BYD's Dynasty lineup. The Da Tang EV went on sale on June 17 and reached its 10,000th delivery on July 23.
