BYD’s Yangwang Launches 4-Seat U8L SUV in China at $214,740

• The full-size executive flagship SUV starts at 1,458,000 yuan ($214,740).
• Yangwang delivered 485 vehicles in July, up 43.07% year-on-year, including 249 units from the U8 lineup.

Yangwang, the ultra-luxury brand of BYD (HKEX: 1211), launched the four-seat U8L Dingcang Edition on Wednesday, stepping up its push into the ultra-luxury market.

The full-size executive flagship SUV starts at 1,458,000 yuan ($214,740) and is positioned above the existing six-seat U8L Dingshi Edition, which has a starting price of 1.3 million yuan.

The U8L Dingcang Edition measures 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width and 1,921 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm and a four-seat layout.

It retains BYD's e4 platform, DiSus-P Plus body-control system and second-generation Blade Battery.

The model has a CLTC pure-electric range of 230 kilometers and a combined range of 1,205 kilometers. It supports BYD's flash charging technology, allowing the battery to be charged to 70% in 5 minutes and about 97% in 9 minutes.

The U8L Dingcang Edition is equipped with the three-LiDAR version of God's Eye A, powered by the God's Eye 5.0 end-to-end reinforcement-learning model and featuring 40 sensing components.

It features matrix-style tri-beam headlights and a 24K gold oracle-style emblem, and now offers new color combinations including a blue exterior and gold interior.

Alongside the vehicle's launch, Yangwang opened its global bespoke customization center at the Yangwang Center in Shanghai's Hongqiao area and introduced bespoke editions across its entire lineup.

A bespoke theme package developed specifically for the U8L is priced at 300,000 yuan, while personalized customization packages start at 120,000 yuan.

The package centers on fine-wood marquetry, with rare timber shaved into 0.5-mm veneers and intricately carved at micron-level precision to create seamless inlays,Yangwang said. The headrests are finished with traditional Su embroidery.

Bespoke editions of the Yangwang U7, U8, U9 and U8L are now available, while the U9X offers extensive customization across the entire vehicle.

Yangwang delivered 485 vehicles in July, up 43.07% year-on-year and 3.19% from June.

The U8 lineup accounted for 249 units, up 211.25% year-on-year but down 17.55% month-on-month.
