Deepal, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625), will launch the 2027 L06 sedan tomorrow, less than a year after the model's debut.
Meanwhile, the brand is preparing to showcase 2 SUVs at the Paris Auto Show as it expands in international markets.
The 2027 Deepal L06 will go on sale on October 9, alongside the L06 Zhuifeng edition, which debuted at the Chengdu Auto Show in August, local automotive media outlet Yiche reported on Thursday.
Deepal has yet to announce the launch schedule through its official channels. The brand positions the 2027 L06 as a "long-range AI sports sedan with magnetorheological suspension."
Deepal chairman Deng Chenghao said the new model features enhanced AI capabilities, including an AI Agent and an AI Box, allowing it to understand an owner's intentions from a single spoken sentence.
Jointly developed by Deepal and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), the AI Box uses Intel's Core Ultra platform to bring PC-level on-device AI computing power into the vehicle.
Deepal said this marks the first time this level of computing power has entered the mainstream market for vehicles priced around 150,000 yuan ($22,270).
The L06 features magnetorheological suspension, a technology previously reserved for supercars such as the Ferrari 296 GTB.
The Zhuifeng edition focuses on sporty driving, with a full suite of track-oriented components and a large fixed carbon-fiber rear wing. Deepal said the vehicle can generate up to 1,000 N of downforce at high speeds.
Deng previously said the Zhuifeng edition was inspired by customer input. After seeing owners add front splitters, side skirts and rear wings in owner groups and on the road, the team decided to offer an official version. It also features an exclusive yellow paint finish.
The Zhuifeng edition was showcased on September 28 at an event marking the roll-out of Deepal's 1 millionth vehicle and the launch of the new S07 AI LiDAR edition. The S07 AI LiDAR edition carries a limited-time promotional price of 149,900 yuan to 169,900 yuan.
The current L06 was launched on November 18, 2025, with a current starting price of 125,900 yuan ($18,690). It comes with LiDAR and 2 Horizon Robotics J6M chips. The model was also the first to feature Deepal's Deepal AD Max driver assistance system.
In China, the model mainly competes with vehicles including the Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKEX: 9868) Mona M03 and BYD (HKEX: 1211) Seal 06.
The current L06 is a 5-seat, rear-wheel-drive sedan with a rear motor delivering a peak output of 200 kW. It uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from CATL (HKEX: 3750, SHE: 300750), offering CLTC ranges of 560 kilometers or 670 kilometers.
Deepal said its S07 and S05 will be displayed at Changan's booth in Hall 7.1 at the Paris Motor Show from October 12 to 18. The brand is using the slogan "Smart Your Future" for the appearance.
Deepal is an NEV brand launched by Changan in 2022. Its first model, the SL03, was unveiled on July 25, 2022. Its lineup also includes the L07 sedan and the S05, G318, S07 and S09 SUVs.
