Summary

The Chevrolet Silverado EV has become America's most affordable full-size electric pickup, following the discontinuation of the Ford F-150 Lightning. New details for the 2027 model year reveal pricing starts at $53,200 for the WT Work Truck, alongside returning trims like the Trail Boss.

With the Ford F-150 Lightning no longer available, the Chevy Silverado EV is now the most affordable full-size electric pickup you can get your hands on.

2027 Chevy Silverado EV gets a slight price bump

The F-150 Lightning, one of the first electric trucks to go on sale in the US alongside the Rivian R1T, is officially discontinued.

Ford no longer lists the electric pickup on its website as it prepares to introduce its next-generation models: the $30,000 Fathom and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) truck that will carry the F-150 Lightning name.

While the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning was America’s most affordable electric pickup, starting at about $50,000, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will take over the title.

According to order guide data uncovered by CarsDirect, the 2027 Chevy Silverado EV will start at $53,200, or $400 more than last year’s model.

That’s for the base Silverado EV 4WT Work Truck model. GM has yet to confirm prices or specs for the 2027MY, but the 2026 Silverado WT with the standard-range battery offers up to 286 miles of range.

The extended-range battery provides 424 miles of range, while the Max offers an impressive 493 miles.

Other 2027 Chevy Silverado EV variants received price increases of either $200 or $400. The 4LT and RST Stars and Stripes special edition trims are no longer available.

Off-road fans will be happy to see the Trail Boss trim is returning. The Silverado EV Trail Boss is lifted by 2″, offering 24% higher ground clearance. It also adds new features, like Terrain Mode and a fine-tuned suspension.

The flagship model also gains trim-exclusive design elements, including Trail Boss badging inside and out, 35″ all-terrain tires, a high-angle front-end design, and red tow hooks.

The 2027 Silverado EV 2LT starts at $61,100. That’s $200 more than the 2026MY, but still less than other electric pickups, including the GMC Sierra EV ($62,400), Tesla Cybertruck ($74,990), Rivian R1T ($79,990), and GMC Hummer EV Pickup ($97,200).

Outside of the lineup and price changes, the 2027 Silverado EV is essentially the same as the current model.

With the extended-range battery, the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss edition can tow up to 12,500 lbs and has a maximum payload of 2,100 lbs. It also delivers an impressive up to 760 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, the electric pickup features a 17.7″ touchscreen infotainment and an 11″ driver display that come as standard, with Google built in.

You can also opt to add a 14″ diagonal Head-Up Display (HUD) and GM’s Super Cruise driver assist tech.

While the Chevy Silverado EV is the most affordable electric pickup in the US, it won’t be for long, with Ford’s Fathom and Slate’s first model arriving soon.

With the 2027 model on its way to dealers, the best deals are on the current 2026 Silverado EV as GM clears inventory. You can use our partner link to see local offers and find the 2026 and 2027 Chevy Silverado EV near you.
