Summary

EcoG has become an official Siemens Product Partner for SIMATIC automation systems, combining charging and automation technology to support DC fast charger manufacturers. The partnership enables software upgrades for over 50 charger makers, adding compliance with the EU Cyber Resilience Act, ISO 15118-20, Plug & Charge, and Megawatt Charging System support.

Munich-based EcoG and electrical powerhouse Siemens are combining their automation and charging technologies to support manufacturers of EV fast charging hardware. EcoG is now an official Siemens Product Partner for SIMATIC automation systems, and will handle system integration and field operations.

More than 50 manufacturers of DC fast chargers use technology from both companies. Upgrading to the EcoG operating system will provide manufacturers and operators with ongoing software updates and support for upcoming requirements, including the Cyber Resilience Act and ISO 15118-20, which the EU will require new charging points to support starting in 2027. The system supports Plug & Charge and the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) for heavy-duty vehicles. It also enables billing that complies with German calibration law (Eichrecht).

“This partnership goes beyond a pure technology partnership,” said EcoG CEO and cofounder Jörg Heuer. “We are laying the foundation to take one of the largest charge point portfolios in the market into the future on the software side. Manufacturers can quickly bring their chargers up to date without having to redevelop them. The SIMATIC architecture stays in place—we simply replace the charging module.”

“Our customers build their charging systems on SIMATIC automation, and that will not change,” said Siemens Digital Industries Product Manager Automation Systems René Kuroczka. “For integration in the field, we have found a partner in EcoG with whom we combine an established charging infrastructure ecosystem with industrial automation.”
