Kia EV9 discounts top $15,000 at some dealers as automaker offsets lost EV tax credit

Kia’s biggest electric SUV is being marked down by more than $15,000 at some dealers.

Kia dealers offer big EV9 discounts into year-end

While sales of several popular electric vehicles, like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Chevy Equinox EV, are down this year after the $7,500 EV tax credit expired last September, the EV9 has actually been more popular.

Through the first eight months of 2026, Kia sold nearly 10,500 EV9s in the US, up 12% from the same period last year, when the tax credit was still being offered.

However, it’s still a fraction of many of its gas SUVs, like the over 98,000 Tellurides it sold during the same period. Like many, Kia has stepped in with its own discounts and incentives to offset the loss of the federal credit.

The 2026 kia-ev9" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Kia EV9 starts at $54,900, which is about as affordable as it gets for an all-electric three-row SUV in the US.

On Kia’s website, the 2026 EV9 is available with a nationwide $10,000 customer cash discount, but some dealers are offering much more.

First spotted by CarBuzz, Shottenkirk Kia of Fort Bend was offering $16,041 off the EV9 Light Short Range. With a starting price of $56,735, that cuts it down to nearly $40,500. Not bad for an all-electric three-row SUV.

And Shottenkirk is not the only Kia dealer offering big discounts. A quick search shows several offering $15,000 discounts.

Liberty Auto Plaza in Illinois is also offering $15,000 off the 2026 EV9 Light Short Range. It shows a starting MSRP of $57,480. With the discount, the dealership is offering it for as little as $42,858, including a $378 documentation fee.

If you want a little more range, the Long Range version is also marked down. With $15,000 off, Liberty Auto Plaza is offering the 2026 kia-ev9" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Kia EV9 Light Long Range for just $45,163.

The EV9 Long Range offers up to 305 miles of driving range, compared to just 230 miles for the Short Range version.

While these offers are not available at all dealerships, Kia is offering a $10,000 Customer Cash discount on the 2026 EV9 nationwide this month.

You can also take advantage of 0% APR financing for 60 months, plus a $5,000 APR Bonus Cash discount.
