Kia adds PV5 Chassis Cab with conversion options including camper and food truck

Kia introduced the new PV5 Chassis Cab, an open-bed model with “endless” conversion options, including a tipper, food truck, or even a camper.

A year after it went on sale, the PV5 has already become Europe’s most popular small electric van. In the first half of 2026, it accounted for 37% of electric C-segment van sales in Europe and was the top seller in its segment.

So far, the PV5 has mostly been sold in Passenger and Cargo body styles. Kia announced plans to launch the first Chassis Cab model in Europe and the UK that will go on sale over the next few months.

The new variant is an open-bed model that can be converted into just about any vehicle you want it to be.

In the UK, Kia will offer conversions through TGS Automotive Group, including Lightweight Tipper, Dropside and Box solutions.

Kia showcased a few unique conversions at SOLUTRANS 2025, including a food truck and even a camper van.

The PV5 Chassis Cab will be available exclusively with the long-range 71.2 kWh battery in the UK, with a WLTP range of up to 258 miles (416 km). Other markets will also have a standard-range 51.1 kWh option.

It also supports DC fast charging up to 120 kW, enabling it to recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. Using an 11 kW AC supply, it takes about 6 hours and 30 mins to charge from 10% to 100%.

The final range and payload will depend on the conversion, but Kia said the Chassis variant will offer a “best-in-class” payload of up to 1,005 kg (2,200 lbs).

It also has a “best-in-class” 5.5-meter turning radius, Kia said, making it ideal for tight city streets or building sites.

Kia will launch the PV5 Chassis Cab in the UK and Europe in 2026. Prices and conversion availability will vary by market.

During its PBV Production Hub Tech Day earlier this month, Kia said it’s expanding the PV5 lineup with 10 different body types. It also revealed the larger PV7 van earlier this month, set to launch in 2027.
