Lynk & Co 20 electric SUV launches in China with 14,663 firm orders in first hour

Lynk & Co, a brand under Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175), launched the Lynk & Co 20 compact electric SUV on Monday, refreshing its electric vehicle lineup amid pressure on sales.

The model comes standard with LiDAR and an 800-volt platform across its 5 variants. Limited-time prices range from 118,800 yuan ($17,620) to 158,800 yuan, compared with regular starting prices of 123,800 yuan to 163,800 yuan.

Shortly after the launch event, Lynk & Co announced that firm orders for the model had exceeded 14,663 units within 1 hour of launch. The figure represents orders rather than actual deliveries.

The Lynk & Co 20 is an updated version of the Lynk & Co Z20, dropping the "Z" from its name to align with the brand's tradition of using numeric names for its other models.

Built on Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the model's main upgrades over the Z20 focus on charging and driver assistance.

All variants feature an 800-volt silicon carbide platform and 6C fast charging, with peak charging power of 460 kW. Charging from 10% to 80% takes about 12 minutes.

The model uses lithium iron phosphate batteries with capacities of 61.52 kWh and 70.01 kWh, offering CLTC range options of 545 km and 630 km.

The Lynk & Co 20 comes standard with LiDAR and the Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) H5 driver-assistance system. It features 28 sensing units and supports functions including parking assistance.

The model retains Lynk & Co's The Next Day design language. Its length increases by 35 mm from the Z20 to 4,495 mm, while the wheelbase measures 2,755 mm.

A single rear-mounted motor delivers peak power of 245 kW (329 hp), enabling all variants to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

The cabin features a digital dashboard, a floating central touchscreen and the "Super Eva" AI voice assistant.

The update comes as Lynk & Co faces declining sales. The brand sold 17,027 vehicles in August, down 37.44% year-on-year, despite a 3.94% increase from July, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

In the first 8 months of the year, Lynk & Co's cumulative sales fell 14.84% year-on-year to 177,624 vehicles. These figures cover the brand's entire lineup, rather than just its battery electric models.
