Mazda launches updated EZ-60 in China with LiDAR variants to boost smart driving

mazda" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Changan Mazda, the joint venture between Changan Automobile (SZSE: 000625) and Mazda in China, launched the 2027 EZ-60 on Saturday, adding LiDAR-equipped variants to close the mid-size SUV's gap in advanced driver assistance.

The new model comes in 9 variants, with limited-time prices ranging from 113,900 yuan ($16,880) to 166,900 yuan, and official guide prices from 119,900 yuan to 172,900 yuan. Each variant carries a limited-time discount of 6,000 yuan.

Compared with the first-generation model launched on September 26, 2025, the official starting price remains unchanged at 119,900 yuan, but the 4 new LiDAR variants push the top of the price range from 160,900 yuan to 172,900 yuan.

The LiDAR variants cost 12,000 yuan more than their corresponding standard versions, with the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) Pro LiDAR variant starting at 151,900 yuan and the battery electric vehicle (BEV) Max LiDAR variant priced at 172,900 yuan, the highest in the lineup.

The new model measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a 2,902 mm wheelbase, the same as the first-generation model. mazda" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Changan Mazda also rolled out purchase incentives including trade-in subsidies, configuration upgrades, and financing benefits.

The LiDAR variants add 1 Hesai (NASDAQ: HSAI) ATX LiDAR on the roof with a maximum detection range of 200 meters, working alongside 3 millimeter-wave radars, 11 high-definition cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars to give the vehicle a forward detection range of more than 250 meters.

The driver assistance system uses an end-to-end architecture, supporting highway navigation assist at 0-130 km/h and urban navigation assist at 0-80 km/h, according to mazda" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Changan Mazda.

The parking system can recognize more than 300 types of parking spaces, and features such as memory parking will be unlocked through later OTA updates. The new model also comes with 25 active safety functions.

Apart from the new LiDAR variants, the other versions received only minor adjustments in configuration and pricing, with the powertrain largely unchanged from the first-generation model.

The EREV variants use a 1.5L range extender with a maximum output of 70 kW, paired with a drive motor delivering peak power of 190 kW (255 hp) and peak torque of 290 Nm, and a 31.73-kWh battery for a CLTC pure electric range of 200 km.

The BEV variants use a 77.94-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with the same single-motor rear-wheel-drive layout, a maximum output of 190 kW, and a CLTC range of 600 km.

The updated EZ-60 mainly targets mid-size new energy SUVs from joint-venture brands in China, such as the Buick Electra E7 and the Nissan NX8. Most joint-venture NEV models have so far been conservative in advanced driver assistance, with LiDAR not offered as standard.

The EZ-60 is mazda" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Changan Mazda's first NEV SUV and a strategic model Mazda developed for global markets.

Its global version, the CX-6e, made its debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January and has already entered markets including Europe.
