PowerUp America Wins NEVI Funding for Four Fast EV Charging Sites in North Carolina

US charge point operator PowerUp America has been selected to receive four new funding awards through the North Carolina DOT’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. The company will use the funding to bring public DC fast charging stations to Chocowinity, Plymouth, Wadesboro and Whiteville, communities located along North Carolina’s transportation corridors.
Kempower will supply the DC fast charging equipment for the new stations, continuing its partnership with PowerUp America. Kempower’s North American headquarters and manufacturing operations are located in Durham.
Working alongside NCDOT, Kempower, utility providers and local partners, PowerUp America will provide development, design, permitting, construction and commissioning for the new charging stations, which are expected to open in mid-to-late 2027.
