Nissan refreshes N7 EV in China with $16,290 limited-time price and LiDAR trim

• The updated Nissan N7 starts at 109,900 yuan for a limited time and adds LiDAR-equipped variants to enhance driver assistance.

nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan's joint venture in China, launched the updated N7 electric sedan with a limited-time starting price of 109,900 yuan ($16,290) and upgraded driver assistance, targeting China's fiercely competitive family EV market.

The sedan went on sale on Tuesday with 6 variants. Official list prices range from 119,900 yuan to 156,900 yuan, while limited-time prices range from 109,900 yuan to 146,900 yuan.

The updated N7's base list price is unchanged from its initial launch in April 2025, while the limited-time offer lowers the entry price by 10,000 yuan.

The annual refresh adds LiDAR-equipped variants starting at 129,900 yuan for a limited time, alongside seating comfort upgrades and a new exterior color.

The update comes as N7 sales face pressure. Designed and developed by a Chinese team, the model's aggressive pricing made it a prominent example of joint venture brands' efforts to regain ground in China's EV market.

N7 retail sales totaled 928 units in August, down from a peak of 10,148 in August 2025, according to China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data compiled by CnEVPost.

Driver assistance is a key focus of the refresh. The LiDAR-equipped variants feature 30 sensors and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650P driver-assistance chip, using a system jointly developed by nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan and Momenta (HKEX: 6880).

Momenta's R7 world model is expected to roll out via an over-the-air (OTA) update as early as the end of this year, with the availability of related features subject to subsequent software updates.

The updated sedan adds features including rear-seat ventilation and heating. The top-spec variant also has electronically controlled dampers that can adjust damping in advance using road-sensing data.

The exterior retains the existing design while adding a light green paint option and replacing flush door handles with a semi-flush design.

The lineup also includes a Black Knight edition, priced at 146,900 yuan for a limited time.

The updated N7 continues to use nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan's Tianyan dedicated EV architecture. It measures 4,930 or 4,967 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,492 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm.

The cockpit features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip and the Nissan OS 2.0 infotainment system, supporting voice interaction powered by large AI models.

The N7 launched in late April 2025 as the first model in nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan's N series. The company has since expanded its new-energy vehicle lineup to compete with Chinese domestic brands.

nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan launched the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan last December, followed by the NX8 in April this year. The NX8 is the company's first model to offer an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) option.

The NX7 plug-in hybrid SUV, the fourth model in the N series, completed its regulatory filing in August.

The series saw its 100,000th vehicle roll off the production line in June, about 14 months after the N7's launch.
