Jackery and Pebble Partner on Solar-Powered 2027 Pebble Flow RV With 45 kWh LFP Battery
Summary
Jackery will supply custom solar panels for Pebble's new Self-Powered Package on the 2027 Pebble Flow RV, adding up to 2 kW of off-grid solar capacity. The aerodynamic electric RV uses a 45 kWh LFP battery, in-wheel motors, and regenerative braking to cut generator reliance and extend towing range.
Jackery and Pebble have partnered to produce solar-powered RVs. Jackery will supply custom solar panels for the new Self-Powered Package on the 2027 Pebble Flow.
We have covered California-based Pebble before at CES, and I saw them at the show again this year. The RVs use 45 kWh LFP automotive-grade batteries and up to 1.1 kW of solar on the roof. The partnership with Jackery increases off-grid capabilities with an additional 2 kW of solar power.
The solution eliminates reliance on noisy, polluting generators and propane tanks at campsites, enabling greater self-sufficiency. Customers can avoid the need to look for fuel or having to depend on campground power in crowded RV parks.
However, these solar-backed batteries do not just replace generators at campsites. The Pebble Flow uses in-wheel motors for regenerative braking and to provide power when going up hills. Essentially, the RV is an aerodynamic EV. This reduces loads on the tow vehicle, letting a smaller vehicle comfortably tow the relatively large trailer. When coupled with an EV for towing, the added battery and regenerative braking capacity helps to extend the range. Like a typical EV, the RV accepts Level 1, 2 & 3 charging, recharging up to 80% in less than an hour.
In addition, the electric motors can also move the trailer independently, helping to position the RV in tight spaces and making connection to a trailer hitch much easier. That capability is backed by the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin platform with 360-degree cameras, similar to many automobile intelligent driving systems. The electric power also supports corner motorized stabilizers, hydraulic levelers and entry stairs to set up a campsite in less than a minute
The new partnership with Jackery creates new possibilities. The two companies emphasize shared values and a commitment to “clean, quiet power that operates independently of the grid.”
According to Bingrui Yang, CEO and founder of Pebble:
We didn’t want to just put two logos on a product. Jackery has spent years building portable power that people count on, both at home and outdoors. Their solar panels connect straight into Pebble Flow’s own energy system, so travelers get the same steady, easy-to-use power on the road that they have at home. That’s the idea behind Jackery’s ‘Home on the Road, Power on the Go.’
Jackery worked with Pebble to develop a turnkey Self-Powered Package for the 2027 Pebble Flow, engineered to integrate seamlessly. Four rugged, high-efficiency 500W solar panels come equipped with cables and a four-in-one solar connection junction. When parked and deployed, the additional 2 kW of solar helps owners stay off-grid longer and generate more of their own energy. With the panels deployed, the companies estimate that the energy efficient Pebble Flow can generate more electricity than it consumes in a typical day, even when air conditioning is running.
The system can also provide up to 12 kW of power, which can be used in a home or even to charge an EV. As many RVs sit for extended periods in driveways, this power could come in handy for many homeowners. As a result, the electrified RV can help customers explore remote areas and provide clean power for their daily lives.
The Self-Powered package adds $4,000 to the $189,000 Pebble Flow Founder’s Edition, which is loaded with options. Alternatively, it can be added to the $159,000 Pebble Flow Magic Pack, but that also requires a $5000 addition of the 1.1 kW of roof-integrated solar for $9,000 total. For many of us, that is a lot of money. However, these are luxury RVs with some of the most advanced technology available. Compared to a 25’ Airstream with comparable options, the price isn’t far off. However, the Pebble Flow incorporates advanced clean technology and functional aerodynamics backed by advanced computational simulation and road testing (rather than just looking aerodynamic). Orders for the Pebble Flow with the Self-Powered Package opened earlier this week, with the self-powered hardware expected to start shipping in December.
I have previously been impressed with Jackery’s customer focus. Beyond technology for technology’s sake, they work to figure out what customer problems are present and find solutions that meet their needs. Not every customer has the same needs, which has led to a diverse range of solutions. Often, to address these needs, Jackery has partnered with other companies with specialized expertise, like Pebble. Jackery claims this is their “first foray into the automotive sector.” With a statement like that, I have a feeling that it will not be their last. It will be interesting to see what Jackery comes up with next.
