  • The Shangjie Z9 measures 5,139 mm in length with a 3,086 mm wheelbase and offers 5-seat and 6-seat layouts.
  • The Z9 will be Shangjie's fourth model, following the H5 SUV, Z7 coupe and Z7T shooting brake.

Shangjie, the brand jointly developed by Huawei and SAIC Motor (SSE: 600104), is preparing to launch a large battery electric SUV, further expanding its rapidly growing lineup.

The Shangjie Z9 appeared in the 412th batch of vehicle filings released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Friday.

In China, new vehicles must complete the MIIT filing process before going on sale. Such filings typically indicate a launch within the next few months.

SAIC Motor submitted 2 filings for the Z9, covering single-motor and dual-motor variants.

The SUV measures 5,139 mm in length, 2,005 mm in width and 1,776 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,086 mm.

By comparison, the Shangjie Z7 sedan, launched in April, measures 5,036 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width and 1,465 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.

The Z9 offers 5-seat and 6-seat configurations, with the latter available only on the dual-motor variant.

The single-motor Z9 has a rear-mounted motor with peak output of 280 kW (375 hp), a top speed of 200 km/h and a curb weight of 2,595 kg.

The dual-motor variant adds a 175 kW front motor, bringing combined output to 455 kW. It has a top speed of 210 km/h and a curb weight ranging from 2,715 kg to 2,794 kg.

Both variants use ternary lithium-ion batteries with cells supplied by CATL (SZSE: 300750).

The filings did not disclose battery capacity or driving range, details that typically appear in subsequent regulatory disclosures.

Images in the filings show the Z9 with a closed-off front fascia, a full-width taillight and roof-mounted LiDAR, suggesting it will feature Huawei's advanced driver-assistance system.

Shangjie is the fifth automotive brand under the Huawei-led HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance). Its first model, the H5 SUV, went on sale in September 2025.

The brand launched the Z7 coupe and Z7T shooting brake in April this year, with starting prices of 219,800 yuan ($32,700) and 229,800 yuan, respectively, targeting Xiaomi's (HKEX: 1810) SU7.

In June, Shangjie launched the updated H5, keeping its starting price at 159,800 yuan while adding Huawei's upgraded Qiankun ADS 4.1 driver-assistance system.

The Z9 will be Shangjie's fourth model and its first large battery electric SUV.
