Xiaomi SU9 Lux Trademark Hints at Long-Wheelbase Luxury Electric Flagship
Summary
Xiaomi has filed a "XIAOMI SU9 LUX" trademark that bloggers link to a long-wheelbase SU7 test vehicle spotted in China. The move could take Xiaomi's EV sedan lineup further upmarket with a comfort-focused executive model, though nothing is officially confirmed.

Xiaomi Auto, the automotive unit of Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810), could use the SU9 Lux name for a new model targeting the luxury executive flagship segment, taking its sedan lineup further upmarket.
Details of the Xiaomi SU9 Lux trademark have recently surfaced in a trademark gazette, with several bloggers linking the name to a long-wheelbase sedan previously referred to as the "Xiaomi SU7L."
The document shows that Xiaomi applied for the "XIAOMI SU9 LUX" trademark on February 13, 2026, under Class 12, which includes automobiles.
The trademark was published for preliminary approval in issue 1986 of the trademark gazette on June 6, with an opposition period running from June 7 to September 6.
The link between the name and the vehicle, as well as its market positioning, remains speculative. The trademark alone does not confirm the final production model's name. "LUX" may be derived from "luxury," suggesting an upscale positioning, though Xiaomi has yet to confirm that interpretation.
Camouflaged test vehicles believed to be the model have appeared repeatedly on Chinese social media platforms.
Automotive blogger @出行报告 shared 2 spy photos today, saying the vehicle appears noticeably longer than the SU7, with an estimated length of more than 5.2 meters and a wheelbase of about 3.1 meters.

The test vehicle is thought to use a longer body to improve second-row space, potentially appealing to buyers who place greater emphasis on rear-seat comfort.
If that positioning is confirmed, the new model would give Xiaomi another route upmarket alongside the performance-focused SU7 Ultra, placing greater emphasis on rear-seat space and passenger comfort.
The SU7, Xiaomi's first vehicle, went on sale in March 2024. The company subsequently launched the SU7 Ultra in February 2025 and unveiled the new-generation SU7 in March 2026.
Xiaomi announced in August that cumulative deliveries of the SU7 sedan series had surpassed 500,000 units in 28.5 months. Sales have recently come under pressure, however, with September deliveries falling 19.55% year-on-year to 15,751 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Xiaomi is also expanding beyond sedans. Its Sky Nomad extended-range SUV series, launched in September, delivered 12,444 units that month, providing a new source of sales.
Xiaomi Auto delivered 40,015 vehicles in September, its highest monthly total this year and a 32.71% increase from August, though deliveries were still down 4.61% year-on-year. Deliveries of new models are becoming an important driver of the company's expansion.
