  • Xpeng has added dealer partnerships in 4 countries, with its global sales network now spanning 83 countries and regions.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will launch its GX and G9L flagship SUVs in the Middle East next week and announce local pricing.

The Chinese electric vehicle maker disclosed the plans in a Weibo announcement on Tuesday, providing a clearer timeline for the flagship models' expansion into the region.

Xpeng said it recently signed distribution agreements with local partners in Nigeria, Oman, Kuwait and Albania, expanding its sales network across the Middle East, Africa and the Western Balkans.

The company's global sales network now covers 83 countries and regions, with more than 1,200 stores overseas.

Xpeng plans to work with local partners to introduce models, build brand awareness and establish service networks.

The company said GX orders in the Middle East have approached 4,000, and large-scale shipments to the Middle East and Africa are underway, ahead of the announcement of overseas pricing.

The order tally is unchanged from the figure disclosed on October 22 and compares with more than 3,000 announced on October 17.

The latest announcement did not specify which countries will host next week's launches, vehicle configurations or local delivery dates.

As part of its marketing efforts, Xpeng recently held technical briefings on its Kunpeng Super Range Extension technology in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, preparing for the GX's entry into Gulf markets.

The GX launched in China on May 20. The full-size, 6-seat SUV is offered domestically in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.

On October 22, Xpeng announced that cumulative GX deliveries had surpassed 30,000 units, about 5 months after launch. The model delivered 7,224 units in September, accounting for 17.51% of the company's total deliveries that month, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The G9L launched in China on September 17 with a 5-seat layout and both BEV and EREV options, joining the GX in Xpeng's flagship SUV lineup.

On October 12, Xpeng introduced the G9L in Europe at the Paris Motor Show, offering an all-electric version with 6-seat and 7-seat layouts. The latest Middle East announcement did not specify seating layouts or powertrain options for the region.

Overseas expansion is providing greater support for Xpeng's sales. In September, the company's overseas sales reached 10,055 units, exceeding 10,000 for the first time and rising 100.94% year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

In the first 9 months of this year, Xpeng's overseas sales rose 100.11% year-on-year to 59,479 units, accounting for 20.92% of total deliveries, up from 9.49% a year earlier.

By comparison, the company's total deliveries over the same period fell 9.20% year-on-year to 284,367 units. Growth overseas is helping cushion the decline in Xpeng's overall deliveries.
