Xpeng teases Mona L05 SUV debut ahead of Q4 launch, targets younger buyers
Summary
Xpeng has teased its upcoming Mona L05 SUV, a spacious five-seat model aimed at younger buyers, ahead of a planned fourth-quarter launch in China. The new model, offered in BEV and EREV versions, is part of Xpeng's push to lift monthly sales above 60,000 vehicles in Q4.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has teased the upcoming debut of the Mona L05 SUV, expanding its lineup to support a push for higher monthly sales in the fourth quarter.
The Chinese electric vehicle maker announced the model on Weibo on Monday, positioning it as a spacious 5-seat SUV for younger buyers, without disclosing a specific debut date or pricing.
Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said during an August 24 earnings call that the Mona L05 was scheduled to launch in China in the fourth quarter, joining other new models in driving sales growth.
The Mona L05 is a mid-size SUV positioned above the compact Mona L03 SUV, which was launched in July.
The new model measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm, according to earlier regulatory filings. It will be available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.
The Mona L05 BEV has a 71.1-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a CLTC range of 615 to 660 kilometers depending on the variant, according to its filing information.

The EREV version has a 1.5-liter range extender and a 37.2-kWh battery pack. Both powertrain versions feature a drive motor with a maximum output of 183 kW (245 hp).
The teaser comes as Xpeng rolls out a string of SUVs to broaden its market coverage, though its deliveries so far this year remain below year-earlier levels.
The company launched the 5-seat flagship G9L SUV in China on September 17, forming a dual-flagship lineup alongside the 6-seat GX SUV. Mona L03 deliveries exceeded 10,000 vehicles in September, with the company saying production capacity continued to ramp up.
Xpeng delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, its highest monthly total this year, up 5.50% from August but down 0.78% from a year earlier, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Third-quarter deliveries reached a record 118,390 vehicles, up 2.05% year-on-year. However, deliveries in the first 9 months totaled 284,367 vehicles, still down 9.20% from a year earlier.
Mr. He said during the August earnings call that Xpeng would aim to exceed 60,000 vehicles in monthly sales in the fourth quarter as new models including the G9L and Mona L05 rolled out. That target is about 45% above September's delivery level.
