ZF Aftermarket introduces repair kits for hybrid and EV motors, inverters and reducers

Summary

ZF Aftermarket has expanded its E-Mobility Repair Kit family with four new kits covering electric motors, inverters, transmission mechatronics and electric drive unit reducers in hybrid and battery-electric drivetrains. The kits let independent workshops repair individual failed components instead of replacing entire assemblies, with over 100 electric axle drive repair kit variants set to follow.

ZF Aftermarket has introduced four new kits in its E-Mobility Repair Kit family, covering electric motors, inverters, transmission mechatronics and electric drive unit reducers in hybrid and battery-electric drivetrains. Each kit bundles the parts needed for a defined repair, so an independent workshop can fix a failed component instead of replacing the whole assembly.

More than 100 electric axle drive repair kit variants were due to follow within weeks of the September 2026 announcement. Charged covered the 25 electric axle drive repair kits ZF Aftermarket introduced in the US and Canada in 2024.

The Repair Kit EM is for ZF’s second-generation hybrid modules in 8HP transmissions. It combines the rotor and stator assemblies in a single electric motor package, and the components are end-of-line tested.

The Repair Kit IN covers inverter-related failures in fourth-generation 8HP hybrid transmissions. It supplies the parts in one box to restore the power electronics that convert DC to AC for motor control.

The Repair Kit RD is for electric drive unit reducers in which bearing components may be affected. It supplies those bearings so a workshop can restore function without replacing the complete drive unit.

For fourth-generation 8HP transmissions, the Repair Kit ME is a remanufactured mechatronics unit. ZF says each unit is rebuilt using original processes, components, testing and flashing and is fully function-tested before delivery. Swapping the mechatronics also means less downtime than a full transmission replacement, according to the company.

For cases in which repair isn’t the right route technically or economically, ZF offers remanufactured replacements from a portfolio of around 2,400 remanufactured transmission SKUs, including hybrids.

Beyond powertrain repair, ZF Aftermarket says its EV parts lineup covers about 92% of Europe’s top 20 EV parc, including braking, steering, suspension, damping, e-drive fluids and electrified powertrain parts.

By the first quarter of 2027, ZF Aftermarket’s European catalog for Chinese vehicle brands will include up to 200 references. By the end of 2027, the company aims to cover 10 of those brands’ most popular models in Europe, reaching about 30% coverage of workshop demand.

“The new solutions are an important next step in our Maintain-Repair-Replace strategy for electrified drivetrains,” said Markus Wittig, Head of Business Line Passenger Cars at ZF Aftermarket. “They make repairability more accessible for workshops and show how ZF is transferring OE expertise into practical aftermarket solutions for e-motors, hybrid modules, inverters and mechatronics.”
