UK unveils first mainline battery-electric train fleet in £1bn rail upgrade
Alstom and TransPennine Express will deploy 29 British-built Adessia Stream battery-electric trains on northern England routes from 2034. The £1bn-plus deal promises over 6,000 jobs, faster and more reliable journeys, and lower carbon emissions.
