NRDC Urges End to $16B in EU, UK Forest-Harming Subsidies Including Bioenergy

A new NRDC analysis finds 16 European governments and the European Commission gave €16 billion in 2024 subsidies to forest-harming sectors such as bioenergy, logging, and agriculture. The group says countries should redirect that money toward nature protection, as required under Target 18 of the Global Biodiversity Framework, at this year's CBD talks.
