T&E Urges EU to Strengthen ETS Maritime Fund to Back Long-Term Green E-Fuels
Transport & Environment is pushing EU negotiators to reinforce the ETS Sustainable Maritime Fuels Allowance (SMAP) so it prioritises long-term green e-fuels over short-term alternatives. The group wants a significant share of SMAP allowances earmarked for e-fuels and a book-in-advance mechanism to make the roughly €15 billion support scheme actually bankable for producers.
