Zürich Airport Launches Europe's First L4 Autonomous Electric Shuttles Without Human Monitors

Zürich Airport has deployed two fully automated electric shuttle buses operating at Level 4 autonomy without a human safety monitor, making it one of the first airports in Europe to test such technology in a live environment. Developed with Chinese autonomous vehicle company WeRide since March 2025, the shuttles will initially serve as employee transportation on a defined route before potentially expanding to passenger service.
