China to Cut VAT Export Rebate for EVs and Plug-in Hybrids from 13% to 9%
China will reduce the VAT rebate on exported electric and plug-in hybrid cars, buses, and trucks from 13 percent to 9 percent starting April 1, 2027. The change aims to curb aggressive price competition abroad and push manufacturers to compete on technology, brand, and service rather than subsidized discounts.
