Bpost reaches 4,165 electric vans, 42% of its fleet, targeting 85% last-mile electrification by 2030
Summary
Belgian postal service Bpost now operates 4,165 electric vans, representing 42% of its total van fleet and four times the number from three years ago. The company plans to electrify 85% of its last-mile fleet by 2030, supported by 3,300 charging points and a broader mix of e-bikes, bike trailers, and electric trucks.
Belgian postal service Bpost has announced a milestone in the electrification of its fleet. The agency now has 4,165 electric vans operating on Belgian roads—this represents 42% of its total van fleet, and four times the number in operation three years ago.
With the holiday season approaching, Bpost is completing the rollout of its new electric vans. Of the 1,100 vehicles ordered this year, nearly 900 are already in service. The remaining vehicles will enter service over the coming weeks, replacing combustion-engine vans that have reached the end of their service lives.
More than 150 postal codes are now served by EVs. Bpost aims to have 85% of its last-mile fleet electrified by 2030.
Electrification extends beyond vans. Bpost’s fleet and delivery infrastructure includes some 3,013 electric bicycles, 556 electric bike trailers, two electric trucks and 55 double-deck trailers. The company has installed 3,300 charging points at its sites in Belgium.
“The renewal of our fleet is part of a broader transformation of our logistics network,” said Rik Vandenberghe, National Fleet & Equipment Manager at Bpost. “In just three years, we have gone from approximately 1,000 to more than 4,000 electric vans. With these vehicles, as well as our electric bicycles, bike trailers and electric trucks, we are gradually adapting our operations to meet future needs while continuing to provide reliable service throughout Belgium.”
