The N7's sales trajectory reflects both the opportunities and the pressures facing joint venture brands in China's electric vehicle market.
The model's retail sales reached 10,148 units in August 2025, a record high. Retail sales fell to 928 units this August, with wholesale volume at just 619 units, according to China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data compiled by CnEVPost.
The N7 is the first nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan model designed and developed by a Chinese team, built on the company's Tianyan architecture.
Its assisted driving system was jointly developed by nissan" class="tag-link text-primary font-medium">Dongfeng Nissan and local startup Momenta (HKEX: 6880), and its cockpit incorporates AI large language models including DeepSeek-R1.

The NX8, which went on sale in April this year, is the company's first model to offer an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) option, and it secured 8,423 orders within 30 minutes of launch.
The fourth model in the N series, the NX7 plug-in hybrid SUV, completed its regulatory filing in August, paving the way for its launch.
Cumulative production of the N series reached 100,000 units in June this year, only about 14 months after the N7's launch.
