Huawei-backed Luxeed refreshes R7 SUV with 855 km range and 20,000 yuan price cut

• The updated Luxeed R7 starts at 239,800 yuan ($35,580), down 20,000 yuan from its predecessor.
• Luxeed said it invested 500 million yuan in the update, delivering 8 upgrades and extending the battery-electric version's CLTC range to as much as 855 km.

Luxeed, the electric vehicle brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery (HKEX: 9973), launched an updated version of its R7 coupe SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China on Monday, with a starting price of 239,800 yuan ($35,580).

The model comes in 4 variants: the Max at 239,800 yuan, the Max+ at 259,800 yuan, the Max+ Long Range at 289,800 yuan and the Ultra at 319,800 yuan.

The starting price is 20,000 yuan below its predecessor's 259,800 yuan. The R7 was last updated in March, just 6 months ago.

Customers placing orders now can receive 2-year interest-free financing and limited-time benefits worth up to 44,500 yuan, Luxeed said.

The model was rolled out at a HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) product launch event, alongside the Luxeed RX battery-electric coupe SUV and the Stelato V8 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).

The updated Luxeed R7 measures 4,982 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width and 1,634 mm or 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

The battery-electric version uses Huawei's Giant Whale 800 V high-voltage battery platform. Maximum output from its single rear-mounted motor has risen to 227 kW, while CLTC range reaches up to 855 km.

The extended-range version retains its existing powertrain hardware, with only minor adjustments to the chassis and power delivery calibration.

The updated R7 features Huawei ADS 5 and an 896-channel dual-optical-path imaging-grade LiDAR. In-cabin LiDAR is optional on some variants.

Luxeed said it invested 500 million yuan in the R7 refresh, delivering 8 upgrades across areas including exterior styling, the interior, chassis and driver assistance as part of the mid-cycle update.

The model retains its full-width light bars, while replacing flush door handles with semi-flush ones. It also adds 2 exterior colors: Titanium Silver and Star Rose Pink.

Inside, the R7 features the HarmonyOS Alps health-focused cabin and a 17.2-inch butterfly-wing dual-screen display with 3.4K resolution, the first display of its kind in the HIMA lineup.

It also features a 26-inch head-up display, a D-shaped steering wheel and 4 interior color options. A Huawei Sound audio system is standard across the lineup.

Luxeed's other models on sale include the S7 sedan, V9 MPV and newly launched RX.
