Summary

NIO delivered 34,246 vehicles in October, its lowest monthly total since April and far short of rival XPENG's record performance. Still, the result lifted NIO's 2026 cumulative deliveries to 334,547, a 38.5% year-over-year increase, helped by the ES8's continued strength in China's premium SUV segment.

NIO’s October sales were nothing like XPENG’s. Rather than soaring to record heights, they drooped. Rather than surpassing 50,000 sales (something NIO is yet to do and XPENG has done only this once), NIO scored 34,246 vehicle deliveries, the company’s lowest delivery total since April.

Nonetheless, that brought the company’s 2026 total to 334,547, a significant 38.5% increase year over year. NIO was also keen to quickly turn people’s attention to some positive news: “On October 23, 2026, the NIO All-New ES8 reached its 160,000th delivery. From January to October 2026, the NIO All-New ES8 has ranked first in cumulative retail sales volume in both the large SUV segment and the RMB400,000-level vehicle segment in China. As the industry transitions from spec-led to brand-driven competition, sustained sales momentum for the NIO All-New ES8 further enhances recognition of the NIO brand in the premium market.”

In terms of how NIO’s October sales split out by brand, here’s the breakdown:

  • NIO — 18,125
  • ONVO — 8,383
  • FIREFLY — 7,738

The company’s cumulative vehicle sales reached 1,332,139 at the end of October. Not too shabby. Though, the company will want to do much better than it did in October in order to see that cumulative total grow much faster.
