Huawei-backed Stelato V8 MPV opens pre-sales in China from 329,800 yuan

• The Stelato V8 starts at 329,800 yuan ($48,930) in pre-sales and is the brand's first MPV.
• The battery-electric version offers a CLTC range of up to 830 km, while the extended-range version has a combined range of up to 1,465 km.

Stelato, the EV brand jointly developed by Huawei and BAIC, began pre-sales of the V8 in China on Monday, marking its entry into the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market.

The Stelato V8 starts at 329,800 yuan ($48,930) in pre-sales. Customers placing orders now can receive benefits valued at 6,000 yuan, including a 2,000 yuan deposit credited toward 5,000 yuan of the final payment, a limited-time 50% discount on optional wheels, and priority delivery.

The vehicle was presented at today's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) product launch event, alongside the Luxeed RX coupe sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Positioned as a flagship midsize-to-large MPV for families, the Stelato V8 is available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.

It measures 5,335 mm in length, 2,005 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. It has a 7-seat layout in a 2+2+3 configuration.

An 800-volt platform and Huawei's ADS driver-assistance system are standard across the lineup.

The BEV variants feature a 120 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 830 km for the rear-wheel-drive version and 775 km for the all-wheel-drive version.

The EREV variants use a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender with a maximum output of 118 kW. They offer battery capacities of 56 kWh and 75.4 kWh, providing CLTC battery-only ranges of 330 km and 430 km, respectively.

With a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, the EREV variants have combined CLTC ranges of 1,365 km and 1,465 km, respectively.

The single-motor, rear-wheel-drive BEV produces peak power of 227 kW (304 hp), while the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version has a combined output of 387 kW.

The vehicle is built on an architecture designed for Level 3 autonomous driving and is equipped with 38 sensors.

An 896-channel LiDAR unit mounted at the front of the roof works with the other sensing hardware as part of a 4-LiDAR array.

The V8 is Stelato's fourth model, joining the S9 sedan, S9T wagon and G9 off-road SUV. The G9 went on sale on August 20, starting at 429,800 yuan.

Competition is fierce in China's premium MPV market. The V8's rivals include the Denza D9 from BYD (HKEX: 1211), the Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) X9 and the similarly sized Luxeed V9, another model in the HIMA lineup.
