Waymo adds Toyota bZ4X to robotaxi fleet, with Japan test operations starting in 2027
Waymo will use a custom Toyota bZ4X with the Waymo Driver integrated at Toyota's Takaoka plant in Japan, with a test fleet beginning there in 2027. It is the first vehicle from the companies' 2025 partnership and gives Waymo a Japanese-built platform for its Tokyo launch, with the UK and other markets to follow.
