CAT's new D11 XE electric drive dozer borrows century-old diesel-electric train tech
Caterpillar is applying the diesel-electric locomotive concept to its new D11 XE Electric Drive dozer, pairing a Cat C32B diesel engine with electric drive motors. The company claims up to 25% less fuel per unit of material moved, 5-10% more material moved per hour, and longer component service intervals than the latest D11.
