Metra's first battery-electric Stadler FLIRT locomotive arrives in Chicago this week
Metra is debuting a battery-electric FLIRT trainset from Stadler, which it calls the first of its kind in the US, on the Rock Island Line's Beverly branch. The first trainset will be shown at the APTA conference before entering passenger service by the end of 2027.
