J3068 Three-Phase AC Charging Could Give EV Fleets 50 kW Without Costly DC Infrastructure

EVSE engineer Ned Funnell is urging fleet operators to reconsider AC charging, arguing that the SAE J3068 three-phase standard can deliver around 52 kW at 480 volts without the expense and utility bottlenecks of DC fast chargers. The approach, already proven in Europe and Asia, could help medium- and heavy-duty fleets charge overnight at far lower infrastructure cost.
