Ireland Grid Flexibility Assessment: Location, Timing Critical for Batteries and EV Charging

Ireland's first national flexibility needs assessment identifies about 234 MW and 58 GWh of potential upward flexibility requirements on distribution networks by 2028, with substation-level figures showing why location matters. The Naas 38 kV/10 kV substation example illustrates that batteries and managed EV charging must address specific grid constraints at the right place and time to be useful.
