IEA: Global EV sales jump 35% in Q2, set records in 50 countries
Global electric vehicle sales rebounded strongly in Q2 2026, rising 35% from the first quarter and hitting quarterly records in 50 countries despite a weak start. The IEA raised its 2026 outlook, now projecting EVs to account for 29% of all car sales worldwide, though US demand has dropped sharply after policy changes.
