Verdox carbon capture passes aluminum smelter test, but commercial scale remains unproven

Verdox completed a two-month industrial demonstration at Hydro's Sunndal aluminum smelter in Norway, capturing CO2 from dilute 1% exhaust laced with real smelter contaminants. The trial validates the electrochemical capture chemistry in a relevant setting, but cost, full-plant power demand, module lifetime and dilute-gas handling remain unresolved.
