Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' Coalburn 1 becomes Europe's largest operational battery storage system
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has started commercial operations at Coalburn 1, a 500 MW, two-hour lithium-ion battery energy storage system in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The project is now Europe's largest operational battery and forms part of a 1.5 GW Scottish BESS portfolio with Coalburn 2 and Devilla.
