Hirect completes testing of in-house 6,000 hp electric locomotive propulsion system
Indian power electronics manufacturer Hirect has completed acceptance testing of its 6,000 hp electric locomotive propulsion system after hauling loaded freight in a WAG-9 locomotive under severe duty cycles. The milestone opens one of the world's largest locomotive markets to Hirect's fully in-house propulsion package and supports its expansion into complete MEMU trainset systems for Indian Railways.
