Sierra Club and Conservation Groups Sue to Restore Endangered Species Act Protections for Threatened Wildlife

Conservation groups led by Earthjustice, including the Sierra Club and WildEarth Guardians, sued to overturn a Trump administration rule that removed automatic protections for threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. The lawsuit argues the rollback violates the law's purpose, especially as the Fish and Wildlife Service faces a 400-species backlog, staffing cuts and budget reductions.
