Fraunhofer high-speed X-ray reveals battery cell failures in real time

Fraunhofer EMI has developed a high-speed X-ray system that captures internal processes in large prismatic battery cells at up to 1,000 images per second under load. Together with Volkswagen's PowerCo, the technology is being transferred to industrial use to accelerate safer next-generation cell development.
