Roam Charging Pays UK Firms Up to £1,000 per Charger to Replace Aging EV Infrastructure
Summary
UK charging provider Roam Charging is offering cash incentives of up to £1,000 per qualifying charger to help organizations offset the cost of replacing outdated, faulty or noncompliant EV equipment. The fully managed replacement service includes free hardware, standard installation, recycling of old units and ongoing monitoring and support.
The world is full of aging, faulty or noncompliant EV chargers, and ripping and replacing can be a pricey proposition. UK charging provider Roam Charging is offering new customers cash incentives to help defray the costs.
Organizations that enter into a long-term lease or other site agreement with Roam can receive up to £1,000 for each qualifying charger they replace (£500 for a single-socket charger and £1,000 for a dual-socket charger).
Roam will remove qualifying chargers and replace them with fully managed, OCPP-compliant Roam chargers. Replacement equipment and standard installation work are provided at no cost. Roam will send the old charging hardware for recycling as waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
Roam provides a fully managed service that includes monitoring, maintenance and support.
“EV charging has evolved rapidly and there are now businesses, developments and destinations across the UK with infrastructure that is non-compliant, aging or simply no longer delivering the experience users and operators need,” said Roam CEO James Randall. “By paying organisations to replace qualifying chargers and taking responsibility for the ongoing management, maintenance and support of the new infrastructure, we can help customers move away from ageing equipment while providing a much more reliable charging experience.”
