LG Energy Solution subsidiary NextStar Energy has produced 10 million battery cells at its plant in Windsor, Ontario, since commercial production began in November 2025.

NextStar says the plant is Canada’s first and only commercial-scale battery manufacturing facility. More than $5 billion CAD has been invested in the plant. In June, NextStar began producing battery packs at the plant, which already made cells and modules.

Each battery cell is manufactured using automation and multistage quality verification designed to meet international standards for performance and reliability.

“Canada has an opportunity to be a leader in the rapidly growing energy storage sector, and NextStar Energy is leading the charge,” said Danies Lee, CEO of NextStar Energy. “Producing 10 million battery cells demonstrates that we have the people, the capability, and the vision to compete on a global scale. We are incredibly proud to create new advanced manufacturing opportunities for Canadian workers and to contribute to the long-term economic growth of our region.”
