Summary

The Missouri Public Service Commission approved Ameren Missouri's proposal to build solar and storage projects across the state. The Sierra Club, which supported the projects at public hearings, praised the decision as a smart investment in affordable renewable energy.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Yesterday, the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) approved Ameren Missouri’s proposal to build solar and storage projects. The Sierra Club and its members supported the projects at public hearings around the state. Renewable energy remains the cheapest way to generate electricity, while coal and fossil fuels remain expensive and extremely harmful to public health.

Statement from Jenn DeRose, Missouri Campaign Representative for Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign:

“The exciting reality of matching solar and wind with storage is that we can generate electricity during the day and use it at night when the sun goes down. We can power our lives safely and affordably with renewable energy and storage, and we need more of these smart investments in our state.”
